Donnie McClurkin Says Gospel Music’s Standards Have Dropped

Spread The Love

Gospel music has a significant impact on those who listen to it because of the message of peace, love and hope.

The genre has evolved over the years becoming more rich and diverse, with the veterans in the industry paving the way to the younger generation. One staple in the industry is multi-award winning gospel singer and minister Donnie McClurkin who recently went viral after a video was published about the state of gospel music today.

The video starts with pastor stating: “if you can watch now the industry called gospel music today you will see that a lot of it is solely for the aggrandisement, it’s for the awards and popularity. We use gospel as the foundation but we are building all of this carnally on top of it.”

When asked what advice he’d give to artists wanting to avoid that path he replies: “let Jesus Christ really be the saviour, let Him really be the one who sanctifies us, come out from among them and not touch the unclean thing.”

The video was first published on TikTok and has gained the attention of many people, including popular YouTuber Marcus Rogers who said: “what he is talking about, that is the reason that there is no oil on a lot of the music because they are living a lifestyle that is contrary to the word of the God”.
