Award-winning gospel musician, Evang Diana Asamoah shared her touching story when she visited her former school former school, Ahwene L/A Basic School, in the Wenchi district of the Bono Region, after presenting Exercise books, biscuits and assorted drinks to the pupils as part of her birthday celebration.

The celebrated singer, who uses evangelism and song ministration to spread the gospel of God said, “all of us, including musicians, need to unite to combat the many challenges confronting the country.”

Evang Diana Asamoah, who is recognized for award-winning gospel songs such as Yehowa, M’abo wo din, Akoko abon, Pentecost and Woda mu fua, had her upper primary education at Ahwene L/A Basic School.

She continued her secondary education at Boko, where she had to walk for over three miles to and from school every day until she completed form four. She celebrated the day by presented 2,000 pieces of exercise books, 10 cartons of biscuits and about 500 bottles of soft drinks to the pupils of the school.

She encouraged the pupils and teachers not to despair or lose hope based on where they are, adding, “it does not matter if you are schooling in a remote village, for God is able to left you up from your present location and make you a shining example to the world if you will study hard and trust Him”.

Diana Asamoah also expressed her appreciation to God for how far she has come in life knowing her beginning at Buoko Ahwene and called on the pupils and teachers to draw inspirations from her story. She stated the gesture is her small way of supporting the vision of the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on education.

The headmaster of the Ahwene L/A Basic School, Collins Kumi expressed his gratitude to the musician and her management for remembering her past and asked for God’s blessing on her life for the smiles her gesture has put on the faces of the pupils. He, however, prayed for God to touch the heart of others in helping them fix challenges such as classrooms for pupils and accommodation for the teachers.

The Dabenhene of Wenchi Traditional Council, Nana Antwi Boasiako praised the teachers for their hard work in the face of the challenges. He asked government to ensure a favourable teaching and learning environment in the school.
