Gospel Musicians are likely to Suffer in Kumasi – AGPA

Spread The Love

A group of gospel music presenters calling themselves the Ashanti Gospel Presenters Association (AGPA) say they will bring about reforms in gospel music within the region and beyond.

Public Relations Officer of AGPA, Alexis the God’s Son indicated that the association will seek to review gospel music before it enjoys airplay in the region warning that not any lazily produce tracks could enjoy some airplay

According to the association, it has come to realize gospel music produced in the 90’s is better, relevant and still greatly enjoyed by listeners than current ones.

They argue that most musicians do shoddy work on their album which has resulted in the current abysmal performance of gospel music in the country.

Today people have become lazy in the industry producing cheap work. This has gotten to a point when some managers of radio stations have sanctioned some of our members who are presenters because of the kind of gospel music people are producing which we play on air. Alexis revealed on Abusua Fm in Kumasi on the station’s entertainment show last Saturday.

He disclosed that the formation of the association is aimed at improving the quality of gospel music adding that AGPA will not sit for the gospel industry to collapse hence the step to bring quality work done by artists.

In his interview, the Alexis the God’s Son indicated that, now that, presenters of the region have come together, they will make sure to review all gospel music produced by the various artistes before playing on air.

After reviewing, we shall offer an effective promotion measure for artistes whose music would be selected to be played in order to help grow the industry, he promised.
