Piracy is believed to be a phenomenon which is not only exhausting at the monetary worth of Ghanaian gospel musicians, but has remained an unresolved problem which has devoured deep into the fabric of Ghanaian Gospel music industry.

Diana Antwi Hamilton made the revelation in an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on HITZ 103.9 FM.

Diana admitted she does a lot of selling of her songs online and in UK and US as well which is her biggest markets because some unknown individuals now use illegal means to get access to their albums, duplicate them and sell them for their selfish gain.

“I do a lots of selling online; especially in the UK and US which is my biggest market. I post a lot of CDs out; people buy it on my website and are constantly downloading my songs. Every song is available as singles on Amazon, iTunes online. So we get a lots of downloads, it’s not doing bad. That is my world now. In Ghana we tend to sell hard copies of my CDs and when I physically attend an event, we sell my CDs as well” she said.

The “Mo Ne Yo” hitmaker bemoaned that piracy was affecting the businesses of those involved in the gospel music industry, which is the biggest problem in the gospel industry.

In reaction to the growing problem of music piracy, she said she hadn’t seen anyone sell her pirated copy but seen someone come to her car with pirated gospel selection of her CDs to sell to her.

Mrs. Hamilton however questioned the seller if he actually worked on that CDs because the CDs were devoid of Cover art. She added that her manager also encountered the same problem of individuals selling pirated CDs.

Diana Hamilton started her musical career at the age of 13 as a backing vocalist for celebrated gospel artiste Francis Agyei.

Diana developed a profound passion for music at a very tender age, which has led to a celebrated journey. She has become one of African gospel’s most talked-about talents across the world.
