It’s been a tornado of a career for up – and – coming artist and worship singer Portia Kankam as she finally invades into the gospel music scene with classic Live Worship Sessions plus extraordinary covers and gears up for her upcoming release.
Portia Kankam is an unimaginably skilled gospel artist, motivational spirit filled singer whose quest is to sing, motivate and preach the word of God.
The blessed vessel, Portia has availed herself for this end time mandate to affect lives with her music ministry.
A gifted and anointed singer as well, Portia is insightfully aware of the favor of God that she carries in her life and in her ministry, as well as the significant calling that it goes with.
Portia Kankam who hails from Bekwai Amoaful in the Ashanti Region, had her second cycle in Yaa Asantewa Girls Senior High School (Yagss) and holds a degree in Bachelors of Commerce (Accounting) at the University of Cape Coast.
Born and raised up in Obuasi, the phenomenal’s passion for music started when a family friend took her to Christian Faith Center Assemblies of God- Obuasi at a younger age where she was given the opportunity to sing.
Speaking to Sampson Annan of GospelEmpireGh.Com, she said “I have experienced the reality of the Love of Christ in my walk with Him through worship and that inspires my live worship medleys and love for gospel music. I chose to do Gospel to appreciate and reveal the reality of the love of Jesus Christ to the world through gospel music. Hence, I have grown in my love for God, developed my confidence and discovered my music ministry to be a blessing to God’s Church.”
When asked about her thoughts on current Ghanaian Gospel industry, she said: “My thought on the current trend of Ghanaian gospel music is that, I believe the gospel industry is taking a good shape and making much impact internationally than the former days. There is also much impact with the introduction of promoting of songs via social media platforms and blending of the songs both in the local dialect and English language to fit into all kinds of culture. However, there’s more room for improvement in the industry.”
With a resilient message extolling thanks giving to God, Portia continues to push the envelope as an artiste as she preps for upcoming new single.
The gospel icon is hopeful that her upcoming single will touch the hearts of many Ghanaians.
